China's household service industry experienced a rapid growth in 2010, and the number of newly-added household service employees stood at about 1 million in 2010. The potential for the household service industry to provide jobs, especially for migrant workers, will be further developed.

It is estimated that the household service industry will provide 10 million to 12 million jobs in the next 10 years if China's urbanization rate increases around 1 percentage point each year, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. The ministry also reports that 11 percent to 12 percent of families have a demand for such services

The household service industry is an important services sector that aims to meet the needs of home life and provides various labor services for families.

China will continue to strengthen the support of the household service industry and make efforts to promote the development of household service agencies as well as the development of services for the elderly, community care services and individual assisted living services in the future, according to the ministry.
