A bus and train collision left at least 5 people dead and dozens injured Thursday morning in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, police said.
A runaway No. 531 Bus rushed onto a railway track and was hit by a running train at 9:07 a.m., in Urumqi, the regional capital, said a spokesman with the city's railway bureau.
Passengers on the bus were mostly students on their way to school.
At least 5 people were killed, said Wang Mingshan, Urumqi's police chief.
The wounded were rushed to three local hospitals, one of which said it has already taken in around 30 injured people.
