Today, Jiangxi will start running its first high-speed railway using the second generation of Chinese high-speed trains, which feature three additional spacious VIP private rooms.

The second-generation trains, said Yu Hualan, an official in charge of CRH (China Railway High-speed) affairs at the Nanchang Railway Bureau, each have a passenger capacity of 600 and offer a more comfortable traveling experience than the first-generation versions. In addition to the traditional first-class coaches, the second-generation trains boast three VIP rooms, which offer passengers more private space, in Coach No. 3.

Now the passengers traveling between Nanchang, Jiujiang and Wuhan are able to enjoy the second-generation services on the CRH2179 and CRH 2180 at the first generation speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

The two second-generation trains have finished the 5,000-kilometer trial run, and the data appears to be accurate and safe. The online preparation is also completed. The Nanchang-Jiujiang Intercity Railway is the first newly-constructed high-speed railway in Jiangxi Province. It runs through the North Jiangxi Plain and was officially put into operation on Sept. 20, 2010.
