This year Beijing will start building the second capital airport, probably in the city's southern suburban Daxing District, according to reports from this year's National People's Congress session.

At the beginning of this year, Beijing's 12th Five-Year Plan calls for the construction of the first phase of Beijing's new airport, which will increase annual passenger throughput by 40 million. By 2015, passenger throughput will exceed 120 million.

Meanwhile, the capital will strengthen transportation between the new airport, the Capital Airport and the downtown. By 2015, passengers will be able to arrive downtown within 30 minutes from the second capital airport.
