Tibet grants education aid to poor urban studetns

Children from impoverished families inside urban areas of the Tibet Autonomous Region will start to receive aid for their education in 2011.

Starting in 2011, Tibet will implement a policy to help children from urban families complete education in the pre-school, compulsory and high school stages.

Every student is to receive 2,000 yuan a year. The gross amount of the fund will top 10.4 million yuan.

In 2011, Tibet adjusted the policies and standards for the program, which will benefit 500,000 students.
