Police in central China Wednesday said 34 members of a suspected drug ring were arrested and 5.1 million yuan (775,000 U.S. dollars) worth of drugs were seized in a series of drug arrests running from late December until early this month.

The railway police bureau in Zhengzhou, capital city of Henan Province, said in a statement that police found a clue to multi-province drug trafficking on a train on Oct. 31, 2010.

The drug ring allegedly produced drugs in southwestern Sichuan Province and transported them to northeastern Liaoning Province by train, it said.

The statement said 18.6 kg of methamphetamine, known as "ice", and 12 kg raw materials for making "ice" were seized after a two month investigation.

Police also raided two drug plants and seized 530,000 yuan in drug profits, two handguns and eight bullets.
