The first marine sports fun-week will kick off from January 18 to 22 in Haikou, capital city of South China's Hainan Province, a popular tropical island in China.

During the fun-week period, which will be held at the surfing and sailing training base as well as the Holiday Beach Resort, national surfing and sailing teams and many provincial teams will sail across Qiongzhou Strait, connecting the island province with the mainland.

Meanwhile, many other sport events including kite surfing performance, kayaking, paddling and sailing competition will be held.

These events combine sports and leisure tourism so as to boost the tourism development in Hainan.

The fun-week is organized by Haikou Municipal government, Hainan Bureau of Culture and Sports and Haikou Tourism Development Committee.
