The price of the iPhone 4 has reached as high as 6,800 yuan (about 1,029 U.S dollars) each in recent days, though the official retail price was 4,999 yuan (around 756 U.S dollars) on the mainland China market.

"The price increased 100 yuan every day recently, and the price will not drop because the Chinese Spring Festival is around the corner," said a sales person working in a large electrical appliances store.

It was said some merchants offered it for a price as high as 7,000 yuan. (about 1,060 U.S dollars)

The sales of iPhone4 have been quite outstanding in the mainland China market since September 2010. According to news from Taiwan, the Apple Company has increased its global shipment expectation from 19 million pieces to 21 million pieces for the first quarter of 2011.

In contrast to the rising cost of the iPhone 4, the old version of 8G iPhone 3GS was on sale at a clearance price.
