With a total investment of 5 billion yuan — the largest investment in any project related to cross-strait trade and business cooperation — Taipei Trade Center was officially launched on Jan. 9.

At a press conference in Shanghai, leaders of the project announced that it will be located in Shanghai Jiading New City, and it is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013.

In addition to promoting the cross-strait economic cooperation framework agreement ("ECFA"), the mainland real estate business China Poly Group Corporation and Taiwan Sakura Company Ltd. invested 5 billion yuan (25 billion New Taiwan dollars) to create the Taipei Trade Center in Shanghai.

This will also be the mainland's first multi-functional, integrated shopping mall that incorporates cross-strait tourism, dining, shopping, leisure, entertainment and cultural exchanges.
