The new English version of China Tibet Online (eng.tibet.cn) was officially launched on Dec. 28, 2010 in Beijing after six months of elaborate preparations. It now pays more attention to the welfare of ordinary Tibetans in areas such as education, employment and housing, etc.

It is the most extensive revision in the past decade since its establishment in 2000.

"Our website aims to serve as a platform to provide a true picture of Tibet for people at home and abroad," said Wei Wu, deputy editor-in-chief of China Tibet Online. “We've adopted globally popular concepts in web design tailored for English speakers.”

“We hope that we can offer them a better experience when visiting our website,” he added.

In a rather simple style, the website boasts abundant and in-depth information on daily life, concerns and emotions of ordinary Tibetans.

The renewed version offers more exclusives on Tibet with latest stories happening in Tibet.

Other important aspects are also covered in the website's reporting, such as religious freedom, cultural preservation and environmental protection of highland wildlife, wetlands and glaciers, Wei said.

As one of China's leading Tibet-related websites, it now offers services in Chinese, English and Tibetan.
