Police have detained 15 drug traffickers and seized 37.5 kilograms of heroin, thought to be the biggest haul captured in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, according to local police authorities.

Police officers grabbed 100 blocks of heroin in a ten-hour raid on Nov. 24, detaining the 15 members of a drug-trafficking gang and confiscating illegal assets including more than 7 million yuan (more than 1 million U.S. dollars), ten vehicles and 19 houses, officials of the public security department of Guangxi told Xinhua Thursday.

The ring, headed by Ling Zhibin, 42, has been trafficking drugs from areas of Guangxi bordering Vietnam to the coastal province of Guangdong in south China, police alleged.

Ling, a native of Guangxi, was sought by Guangdong police in 2005 for drug trafficking but fled to Guangxi, police said.
