Beijing, Shanghai named int'l face of Chinese mainland cities

The award ceremony of the "2010 China (Mainland) City of Best International Image" held in Nanjing on Oct. 21. After a sample survey of about 7,980 people from more than 100 countries of six continents, Shanghai, Beijing and other 10 cities was chosen as first batch of "China (Mainland) City of Best International Image".

Through the survey of "Chinese Cities International Image," Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Xi'an, Changsha, Kunming and Changchun cities have been selected as the top 10. Chengdu and Nanjing tied for third.

The survey activity was started in Beijing in April 2010. By means of questionnaires and solicitation of materials from cities, the whole investigation process continued until July 2010. This event has also commissioned Gallup (China) Consulting to make a survey on how the foreigners think about Chinese cities while the organizing committee launched the candidate cities to provide related materials.
