Two minor quakes reported in southwest China

Two quakes have been reported in southwest China's Guizhou and Yunnan Saturday.

A magnitude-4.4 quake hit the border between Luodian County of southwest China's Guizhou Province and Tian'e County of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region with a depth of 10 km at 6:07 p.m.,according to a statement from Guizhou's seismic network.

The quake centered 25.2 degrees north latitude and 106.8 degrees east longitude, it added.

Strong tremor was felt in Luodian's county seat, 20 km from the epicenter, said county head Sha Xiangui.

Rescuers are rushing to the quake zone where about 603 people of 133 families live. No casualties were reported so far, he added.

A magnitude-3.1 quake hit Dongchuan District of Kunming City, capital of Yunnan with a depth of 13 km at 9:46 p.m., according to the China National Seismic Network.

The quake's center was 26.1 degrees north latitude and 103.1 degrees east longitude.

Yunnan, Guangxi and Guizhou are three neighboring areas.
