In commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the victory in the anti-Japan War (1937-1945), China's central government will give some veterans of the war a one-off cash payment of 3,000 yuan (441 U.S. dollars), to honor their contributions to China and its people.
The payment will go to veterans who joined the army between July 7, 1937 and Sep. 2, 1945, and who currently live in the rural areas, said a statement published on the Civil Affairs Ministry's website Friday.
Local civil affairs and finance agencies should ensure the payment is given to veterans as soon as possible, the statement said.
