An explosion killed seven people and injured 14 in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the morning of Aug. 19, according to Information Office of Xinjiang government.
The bomb blast rocked Aksu city, some 650 kilometers west of the region's capital Urumqi, and the local government is racing against time to save the lives of those injured.
A suspect was arrested on the spot and an investigation is ongoing. The local government has made it clear that this incident would be treated as a criminal case.
