Nearly 401.5 million people have basic urban medical insurance

Nearly 401.5 million people were covered by the basic urban medical insurance in China as of the end of 2009, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced on June 10.
The number of workers covered by the urban medical insurance reached nearly 220.4 million, 19.4 million more than the figure at the end of 2008. The number of migrant workers covered has reached nearly 43.35 million, 690,000 more than the previous year. The total number of people covered in urban areas reached 182.1 million, 63.8 million more than the previous year.
