One dead, two injured in campus knife attack in SW China

A girl was killed and two others were injured in an attack at a university campus in southwest China's Sichuan Province, a teacher said Wednesday.

The suspect, a male sophomore at Sichuan University's public management school, attacked a couple of lovers with a knife at about 9:30 p.m.Tuesday, killing the girl and severely injuring the boy, the teacher said.

The suspect tried to attack another couple, but he was subdued by a boy who was slightly injured.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

Most of the freshmen and sophomores of the university study at the campus in Wenxing Township, Chengdu City.
