Hong Kong raises over 21 mln HKD for Haiti

In wake of the severe earthquake that hit Haiti, Hong Kong's charity and humanitarian aid organizations have successively raised donations.

Organizations such as the Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC), World Vision Hong Kong and Oxfam Hong Kong have raised funds of 17 million Hong Kong dollars. Combined with the 4.4 million Hong Kong dollars allocated by institutions, the amount of donations collected for disaster-stricken Haiti has already exceeded 21 million Hong Kong dollars.

HKRC has raised about 7.5 million Hong Kong dollars in Hong Kong and allocated additional funds of more than 3.2 million Hong Kong dollars for various types of emergency disaster relief work in the earthquake-hit areas.

World Vision Hong Kong has raised about 8 million Hong Kong dollars for disaster-affected people and plans to allocate part of the funds it raised during its annual charity activity "30 Hour Famine." Oxfam Hong Kong has raised about 1.8 million Hong Kong dollars for earthquake-hit areas in Haiti, and will allocate additional funds of more than 1.2 million Hong Kong dollars for disaster relief work.
