Missing ship crew found, captain dead

The nine sailors went missing after a ship wreckage off Taiwan coast last Sunday have been found, with eight alive and its captain dead, said Zhejiang maritime authorities Tuesday.

The ship coded Zheyuyu No. 4520 ran aground due to engine failure and sank off Taiwan coast at around 3 a.m. last Sunday, said a official with the provincial maritime bureau.

The captain surnamed Xu who was found by Taiwan rescuers died after first aid Sunday morning.

Five of the crew members were rescued by two Zhejiang fishing boats and the other three by a Taiwan helicopter at around 7 a.m. that day.

The three crew members who were saved by Taiwan rescuers and the captain's body are yet to be taken back from Taiwan to their hometown in Zhejiang.
