Urumqi Public Security Bureau announced on late Wednesday a wanted list and photos of 15 suspects from the July 5 riot that left 197 people dead.

Police also announced 40 suspects who had been detained, including 25 arrested by police and another 15 reported by people.

Police urged the suspects to turn themselves in. Those who turn in within ten days will be trialed with leniency while other will be punished severely, police said in an announcement.

People who report the suspects or offer clues will be rewarded while kept secret and protected, police said.
