The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) awarded the 2009 Lubetkin Prize in London on July 14 to China's National Stadium, also known as the "Bird's Nest."

According to report by British media on July 15, along with the Bird's nest, there were many other nominees for the RIBA Lubetkin Prize, including the Terminal Three of the Beijing Capital International Airport, China's National Aquatics Centre, also known as the "Water Cube," Munich-based Museum Brandhorst in Germany, Sean O'Casey Community Centre in Dublin, Ireland and the British High Commission in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Following keen competition, China's National Stadium, jointly designed by Switzerland-based Herzog & de Meuron and the China Architecture Design and Research Group, finally won the Lubetkin Prize.
