Beijing lawmakers drafted legislation, for the first time defining 5 kinds of sexual harassment.

The draft forbids sexual harassment of women through language, letters, images, electronic information and physical conduct.

"Electronic information refers to text messages sent by cell phones," Zhou Jidong, the director of Beijing municipal government's legislative affairs office said, "But the specific definition of sexual harassment by text message will depend on circumstance."

A woman sexually harassed may directly sue in a court, or lodge a complaint at her work unit, the infringer's work unit and the women's federation department.

Yuan Fang, a source with the standing committee of Beijing municipal people's congress, said that the draft, with more details on sexual harassment problems, would further safeguard women's rights and interests.
