The policeman, who tried to rescue three primary school students in a drowning accident Friday afternoon in eastern China's Jiangxi Province, was confirmed dead Saturday afternoon, the publicity department of the local government told Xinhua.

Three four-grade primary school students were swept away when swimming in a river in Guangchang County Friday afternoon.

The bodies of two students were retrieved at around 4:40 p.m. the same day, with another student and a policeman who had tried to rescue them missing.

The body of the policeman was found on Saturday afternoon, and the search continues for the one student still missing.
