The population covered by the urban basic old-age pension insurance in China is expected to exceed 223 million by 2010, said the National Human Rights Action Plan of China (2009-2010) released Monday by the Information Office of China's State Council.
The coverage of various types of social insurance in China will also proliferate within three years, said the plan. By the year 2010, the population covered by basic medical care insurance is expected to exceed 400 million; that by unemployment insurance, 120 million; that by work-related injury insurance, 140 million; and that by maternity insurance, over 100 million.
Meanwhile, the government will make efforts to ensure the population covered by rural social old-age pension insurance and corporate annuity will expand year by year, according to the action plan. Source:Xinhua
