In addition to providing aid for the initial stage reconstruction of the earthquake stricken areas, the government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) proposes to invest another 4 billion HKD into the “Trust Fund in Support of Reconstruction in the Sichuan Earthquake Stricken Areas,” in an effort to fully support the reconstruction.

The Legislative Council Panel on Development of the HKSAR held a special meeting on February 3 to discuss the proposal. Many members of the Legislative Council expressed their support to the proposal saying that the SAR government should allocate funds as soon as possible to help fellow citizens in Sichuan Province to rebuild their homes.
