Hongkong Post issued the "Year of the Ox" special stamps on Saturday to mark the Chinese Lunar New Year which will fall on Jan. 26.

The special stamps portrayed vividly the physique and postures of four different breeds of oxen, said Rita Lau, secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, at a ceremony here to issue the set of stamps.

"The zodiac animals stamp series has always been very popular. I am sure this set of 'Year of the Ox' special stamps, which has a strong Lunar New Year flavor, would appeal to the general public and stamp collectors," she said.

As a memento of the occasion, acting Postmaster General Chan Yau-fung presented to Mrs Lau and Mr Bon Kwan, designer of these special stamps, framed stamps and first day covers.
