According to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), during the 2009 Spring Festival, the number of passengers transported nationwide will reach 2.32 billion, up by 3.5% on last year.
Among the passengers, 188 million people will travel on the railway system, an increase of 8%, 2.077 billion people on highways, an increase of 3%, 29 million people using water transport, up by 1%, while 24.2 million people will use aviation, an increase of 12%.
The NDRC published a notice on its website today regarding transport during the 2009 Spring Festival break. It demands that every area and every relevant department join forces to ensure that transport during the Spring Festival holiday runs smoothly.
