October 13 is the first Monday since Beijing implemented "to drive one day less each week" traffic management measures. Nearly 800,000 motor vehicles in Beijing stop. During Monday morning rush hour, the traffic was basically smoother and faster than before.

During the rush hours on Monday, there were much less traffic jams than before. Beijing buses, subway and taxis maintained the same transport capacity as with the period of the Olympics. 18,000 buses ran more than 160,000 rounds daily; 10 Olympic lanes continued to operate as a conventional line; the first bus began operation earlier at 6:00 am. Thanks to the measures the public transport ran smoothly in morning rush hours.
