The Beijing Traffic Management Bureau announced today as of August 20, the Olympic Lanes will gradually allow non-Olympic vehicles to enter.
Some of the Olympic events have ended. In order to ensure vehicle safety and punctuality for Olympic Games traffic, and to make full use of roads, reducing traffic's impact on society, Beijing's Public Security Bureau and the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau decided to exercise special time management of the Olympic lanes. Until August 28, 23 Olympic lanes are divided into five time sessions and 30 sections to be shared at different times of the day.
The Beijing Traffic Management Bureau also indicated that as some Olympic lanes will also serve as Paralympic Games Lanes, the current lane marker will not be removed at this time. When the Olympic lanes are no longer needed, they will be open for ordinary road traffic. Arrangements for the use of the Olympic lanes during the Paralympic Games will be scheduled according to the Paralympic Games tournament schedule and bus timetable, and will be disseminated by the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau.
