Low- price tickets for the Beijing Olympics will be offered to some secondary school students in quake hit areas in Sichuan, announced one official with the Education Ministry at a press conference today, July 21.

Mr. Gao Hong, vice director of the Basic Education Department of the Ministry of Education, said that arrangements had been made. And an Olympic summer camp will be organized for them. They will also have the chance to do some sightseeing around Beijing.

He announced that 14 percent of the Olympic tickets - nearly 1 million tickets - would be provided at a low price to secondary and primary schools around the country. A ticket for the preliminary round costs 5 yuan and for finals the price is 10 yuan.

Arrangements have also been made for students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to get tickets.

The low-price tickets will be distributed through local educational administrations. Schools are required to ensure the safety of these students. And some schools in Beijing will be selected to offer catering and accommodation for students in this "Olympic ticket project" from other areas.

Beijing schools have been allocated 400,000 tickets.
