The number of people who have turned themselves in to police exceeded 280 as of 11 p.m. Tuesday for involvement in the Lhasa riots, according to local sources.
Lhasa prosecutors have so far issued arrest warrants for 29 people alleged to have been involved in this month's riots, while a list of 53 people wanted in connection with the riots has been published by the city's public security bureau.
The riots erupted in the plateau city on the afternoon of March14. Rioters killed 18 civilians and a police officer and attacked schools, banks, hospitals, shops, government offices, utilities and state media offices.
Damage is estimated at more than 244 million yuan (34.4 million U.S. dollars).
