The volunteer department of the Beijing Olympic Committee reported that services in 55 languages will be provided during the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games; and thousands of professional volunteers are needed to provide these language services.

In December 2007, the testing of language volunteers was in full swing. According to reports, our current tested volunteers are able to meet the demand for services in 55 languages. At present, all volunteers, who have met the requirements of the application, have been placed in a "pool of language volunteers" for better management and utilization. After the Olympic and Paralympic Games this "pool of language volunteers" will be allocated for future volunteer projects.
