The Chinese embassy in Sweden celebrated China's 58th National Day in Stockholm, hosting 500 guests from various sectors of the Swedish government, business, and social organizations; as well as overseas Chinese and Chinese working in Sweden.
Chinese Ambassador Lv Fengding made a speech at the reception.

He told guests that this year China continues to make great progress in economic and social development.

The forthcoming 17th party congress, to be held in Beijing in mid-October, has gained world wide attention because it will greatly affect Chinese politics, as well as economic and social development in the future.

"Now every aspect of China is full of vitality, progress, and hope. The Chinese people have never been so confident. With the 17th party congress, China will go forward with even bigger strides on the road to reform and opening up to the outside world; and work even harder to build a harmonious and prosperous society," said the ambassador.

He said China will also strive for world peace and development.

He also said China will host the Olympic Games next August; and looks forward to a successful event, in addition to the National People's Congress in March.

Ambassador Lv said this year is also very important for the relationship between China and Sweden. The two sides not only see an increase in bilateral trade and in exchanges; but more importantly, Chinese President Hu Jintao made an unprecedented visit to Sweden in June. This has tremendous impetus for the friendly cooperation between the two countries. It will surely bring Chinese-Swedish relations to a higher level, according to Ambassador Lv.

He also pointed out that the 57 years of friendly relations between China and Sweden are the result of joint efforts by the two, on the basis of the five principals of peaceful coexistence.

Ambassador Lv said the Chinese embassy will continue to make efforts to promote further development of bilateral relations.
