Due to the broad use of information technology worldwide, China should fully draw on international standards to set its own IT standards. At the same time, a more important task is to develop its own standards into international standards, so the country's IT industry will grow stronger and stronger, said Yang Xueshan, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, at the Reelection Conference of the National IT Standardization Technical Committee on May 29.

Yang said that IT standardization should focus on promoting innovation as well as establishing and implementing unified industrial standards in order to lay a solid foundation for the application of information technology in various aspects of social and economic development and to promote the development of the IT industry.

Yang said that IT standards should be constantly adjusted based on the industry needs and the needs of various fields of the national economy. Information technology is changing and developing fast, so IT standards should be adjusted accordingly.

Yang said environmental protection is the prominent trend of IT development in the next stage, and the IT standardization work should focus on the requirements of environmental protection to continue to improve standards, lead the new IT trend and promote industrial development. Meanwhile, the high degree of mutual integration of information and technology also requires China to adjust the standardization system to allow the integrated technology to smoothly operate on a standard platform.

During the current conference, Xiao Hua, director of the Planning Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, took office as the chairman of the third National Information Technology Standardization under the approval of the Standardization Administration of China. Xiao said that the new National Information Technology Standardization will continue to take improvement and promotion of standardization as its main task, enhance the standardization level of China's IT industry and play the role of a bridge in connecting with global informationization.
