Huge investment to boost higher education in Tibet

Tibet will allocate 6 billion yuan for high education development in the 12th Five-Year Plan Period (2011-2015), according to the Department of Education Tibet Autonomous Region.

In the next five years, Tibet will invest 1 billion yuan in infrastructure construction for three colleges and universities and 2 billion yuan in pushing forward the construction of key disciplines, key laboratories, personnel, scientific research platform, and information technology.

During the 12th Five-Year Plan Period, Tibet will concentrate on building 20 special disciplines, 20 key laboratories and 100 teaching laboratories as well as 10 research platforms to achieve a breakthrough in the national key disciplines and institutions that confer doctorate degrees.
