China's high-speed railway bridge construction has made a great achievement: it has created a passenger lane bridge technical standard system with China's own intellectual property rights. This was announced on the 21st at the 2008 China International High-Speed Railway Bridge Technology Exchange.
According to reports, at present, China has 9,700 km passenger lines under construction or to be constructed, nearly 50 percent of which is bridge construction. The project that possesses the highest proportion of bridge construction is the Guangzhou-Zhuhai inter-city rail with more than 90 percent consisting of bridges; and 88 percent of the soon to be launched Beijing-Tianjin inter-city railway contains bridges. Over the years, China's railways have achieved a significant leap forward in design, construction, scientific research and construction management, and other areas of high-speed railway bridges; and have made a major breakthrough in large-tonnage bridge construction technology. China's independent research and development of a 900-ton passenger traffic lane bridging machine and beam carrier provide a solution to large tonnage full span box girder erection; and promote the development of China's railway bridges.
