Head of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) Zheng Guoguang said today that in late May this year, China will launch the second generation polar-orbiting weather satellite, Fengyun-3 01. Together with currently in-orbit Fengyun-2 C and D, it will operate for the 2008 Beijing Olympics Meteorological Service.

Today, the China Meteorological Administration, China Satellite Launch Control System and the Department of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation held the Fengyun-2 C's third anniversary of operation forum in Beijing. Zheng Guoguang said at the end of the year, China will launch the Fengyun-2 06 satellite.

During the Fengyun-2 C satellite's orbit, it will provide 25 types of imagery for users at home and abroad. It has taken more than 150,000 images, providing real-time data sharing a total of 90 TB with users at home and abroad.
