The Pakistani naval ship formation started its visit to Qingdao on July 19, 2011. During the event, the accompanying "Qingdao" naval ship, a guided missile destroyer of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), received a lot of attention. The “Qingdao” warship completed round-the-world tour, the first of its kind in the history of the PLA Navy, in 2002 and participated in the visits to the U.S., Canada, Australia and so on, thus it earned a name of "Diplomatic star ship." After over a year of yard repair and refit, the warship resumes its role in military diplomacy with a new appearance.

During Pakistani warships' visit this time, the officers and men of the Qingdao warship and those of the Pakistani Navy carried out many friendly exchange activities such as mutual visits to each other’s warships, watching drills of damage control and fire-fighting as well as tug-of-war games. The Qingdao warship will also hold drills at sea with the Pakistani warship formation on the way to see the latter off.
