Four Chinese legislators dismissed for suspected violation of law, discipline

Four lawmakers have been dismissed from China's national legislature for suspected violation of law or discipline, according to the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee on Friday.

Huang Jianhua, a legislator from the northern Hebei Province and president of Hebei Port Group Co., Ltd., has been asked to resign from THE national legislature for "economic errors" in a resignation letter, according to an NPC Standing Committee statement.

Huang was suspected of taking bribes and negligence of duty, the statement said.

Luo Jinbao, Zhang Keqiang, and Shen Changfu, from Beijing, Guangdong Province and Chongqing, respectively, were expelled by corresponding municipal or provincial People's Congress Standing Committee for suspected lawbreaking.

Luo is the former board chairman of China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd., while Zhang is the current board chairman and president of Huamei International Investment Group of Guangdong and Shen is the board chairman and president of China Mobile Group Chongqing Company Limited.

Members of the NPC Standing Committee have adopted a resolution to terminate the four's eligibility as deputies to the national legislature.

Also on Friday, the NPC Standing Committee confirmed that Xiao Huaiyuan, Li Xueyong, Wang Guosheng, Ma Zhongyuan, Wang Lijun, and Li Chongxi are the newly-elected deputies to the NPC.

Xiao serves as chairman of Tianjin Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee while Li Xueyong and Wang Guosheng are acting governors of Jiangsu and Hubei provinces respectively.

Ma Zhongyuan is director general of Chongqing Customs District and Wang Lijun serves as director general of Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau.

Li Chongxi is deputy secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Part of China and vice chairman of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee.
