Senior Chinese official calls for singing of revolutionary songs

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks in a congratulatory letter to a concert in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.
At the concert, more than 3,000 signers from China and Singapore sang CPC revolutionary songs.
"Red songs," or revolutionary songs, refer to songs composed to compliment the CPC's leadership in the revolution and struggle to found the People's Republic of China.
A total of 63 singing teams from all 31 Chinese manland provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, together with teams from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore, participated in the concert that ran from Oct. 25 to 28.
