China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin Wednesday called for members from the country's advisory body to come up with more innovative proposals to promote the country's social and economic development.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks during his meeting with some CPPCC members before they attended a symposium on making good proposals.

Jia said making proposals was one of the most important tasks for the advisory body.

Wang Gang, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, was present at the meeting. He urged advisors to present high-quality proposals and make sure they were handled well.
