Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), called on the association to help promote exchanges and cooperation between the mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administration Region (HKSAR).
The central government had stuck to the principle of "one country, two systems" and the basic law of HKSAR, and worked with Hong Kong people to maintain and promote stability, prosperity and development since it returned to the motherland 13 years ago, he said.
Jia said he was glad to see that Hong Kong's economy had not only weathered through the negative impact of the global financial crisis, but recovered in a fairly short time.
