March is often thought to be China's political month as law makers and political advisers from overall the country gather in Beijing to discuss ways to solve the prominent social and economic problems and draw new plans for 2010.

Ambassadors and diplomatic envoys to China expressed their strong interest in this year's sessions. In their words, NPC deputies and CPPCC members represented broader sections of the Chinese people, and the annual sessions were a major political event in China.

Carlos Miguel Pereira, Cuban ambassador to China

The systems of National People's Congress (NPC) and the multi party cooperation and political consultation led by the Communist Party of China (CPC) have played an irreplaceable role in China's politics. They represent the fundamental political system of socialism in China. Every country has rights to choose its unique way of development, including rights to work out the economic and political systems that are in line with the national conditions.

Mohammad Masood Khan, Pakistani ambassador to China

Annual NPC and CPPCC sessions play a crucial role in China, because NPC deputies and CPPCC members represent broader sections of the Chinese people. I believe this year's sessions will achieve the desired the goal in terms of boosting domestic economic development, narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas, anti-corruption as well as maintaining social harmony and stability.

Rathakit Manathat, Thai ambassador to China

As a developing country, China has won worldwide praise with regard to its democracy, social harmony and stability. The policy China pursues always puts people first, for example, Chinese government attaches great importance to the issue of "three rurals", namely, agriculture, country side and farmers, establishment of a social welfare system, improvement of healthcare service as well as protection of environment and ecology. Meanwhile, China also brings political construction into the state plan of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, which is helpful for the all-round and sustainable development.

Mirghani Mohamed Salih, Sudanese ambassador to China

I want to extend my sincere and warm wishes to the annual NPC and CPPCC sessions. This year's two sessions are held amid China's early recovery from the global downturn. Over the past year, China realized remarkable achievements in terms of economic development, building of a harmonious society, the country's unification as well as democracy building.

Carlos Blasco Villa, Spanish ambassador to China

Two sessions bring NPC deputies and CPPCC member from all over China to Beijing to review last year's work and set the target for this year. The work report of the government by Premier Wen Jiabao on March 5 clarified what the Chinese government has done in the past year and put forward the development goal for 2010.

For the whole world 2009 meant hardship, but China made brilliant achievements by realizing early economic recovery, with gross domestic production (GDP) registering a year-on-year growth of 8.7 percent. Chinese government vowed to create more jobs, curb inflation, boost domestic consumption as well as speed up the transformation of economic growth pattern in 2010.
