Political restructuring part of China's reforms: Premier's report

The reforms China is undertaking include economic and political restructuring, according to the government work report to be delivered by Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday.

Reforms on the economic system and the modernization drive could not succeed without political restructuring, according to the report to be delivered at the annual session of the National People's Congress, the top legislature.

"We will further expand primary-level democracy," according to the report.

The legislature is to amend the Electoral Law, which was adopted in 1953, during the session.

The amendment aims to ensure equal electoral rights between urban and rural resident.
