To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the peace and development research center under the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC) held a "60 years of Chinese diplomacy" symposium on Tuesday.
Li Zhaoxing, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee under the National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of the CAIFC, sent his congratulations to the symposium.
Li expressed his expectations that the symposium delegates will contribute their suggestions on diplomatic theory research and the development of foreign relations and make due contribution to the advance of Chinese diplomacy along with the times.
He also expressed a wish that Peace and Development magazine become increasingly popular among the public and hoped that the symposium is a success.
The symposium delegates reviewed the splendid course that Chinese diplomacy has taken over the past 60 years and looked forward to New China's relations with other large nations and regions as well as the situation of China's regional cooperation. They also discussed international hot issues.
More than 50 people including old diplomats, well-known scholars from international issue research institutions and people from all circles including culture, education and art, in Beijing, were invited to the symposium. By People's Daily Online
