Chinese President Hu Jintao boarded the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy destroyer Shijiazhuang at noon for an international fleet review slated for later Thursday.

President Hu, also chairman of the Central Military Commission, was accompanied by PLA Navy Commander Admiral Wu Shengli and others.

The PLA fleet parade, featuring the debut of China's nuclear submarines, and the fleet review of 21 foreign vessels from 14 countries will be held off the coast of Qingdao to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the PLA Navy.
