Mao Xinyu, CPPCC member and grandson of Chairman Mao Zedong:

This year, I have prepared proposals on reform of the educational system and the strengthening of research and development of traditional Chinese medical science. Of the various issues regarding education, I am particularly concerned about vocational education. I believe that China should introduce and put into practice Comrade Mao Zedong's thoughts on education.

Wang Jinshu, CPPCC member and Chairman of the Henan Committee of the CPPCC:

Henan is China's major production area for wheat and its wheat output accounts for one-fourth of the nation's total production. As for how to maintain a stable economy and rapid development in this major agricultural province, this year I plan to submit a proposal for establishing an international grain exchange in Zhengzhou.

Han Hong, a CPPCC member and singer:

I have submitted two proposals. One is to raise the monthly subsistence allowance of orphans to help them complete their different levels of study. The other proposal is on the protection of the personal safety of "left-behind" female children of rural migrant workers.

Tai Lihua, a CPPCC member and Director of China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe:

During this special time of financial crisis, the government should attach special significance to listening to the voice of the people and their opinions, especially the aspirations of the disabled.

Zhu Jun, a CPPCC member and famous TV MC:

My proposal this year is on transport assistance for the disabled. The government has made certain regulations in this regard, but the standards are not uniform which has led to inconveniences for the disabled. We hope that the management and services regarding this issue can be more standardized.
