Liu Yunshan, head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Publicity Department, Thursday urged the country's publicity departments to seriously study and implement the recent instructions of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Liu, also a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, told a forum that President Hu's speech at the event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 3rd plenary session of the11th CPC Central Committee last week was an important guideline for China to push forward its reform and opening-up.

Publicity departments should unswervingly adhere to the basic line of the Party, and fully understand the Scientific Outlook on Development, Liu said.

The departments should incorporate creativity into their work and try to restore public confidence during the new economic climate, he said.

Liu said publicity departments had played an important role in building a prosperous society in the country and "enrich the cultural life of the public."

He urged the departments to make further contribution by creating a supportive atmosphere for the country's reform and opening-up.
