At 10am, General Secretary Hu Jintao arrived at People's Daily Online. After listening to a brief introduction about Qiangguo (Strong China) Forum, he began online chat with netizens. People's Daily Online has broadcasts in text, photo and video forms.

The following is the full text of President Hu's dialogue with netizens:

Forum: Good morning, Mr. General-Secretary. We know that you closely follow the development of the Internet and People's Daily Online. The moderators and netizens of the Strong China Forum all feel very excited and honored to have you here with us today. Would you please say a few words to our netizens?

Hu Jintao talks with netizens via Qiangguo (Strong China) Forum of People's Daily Online, June 20, 2008.

Hu Jintao: Hello, my friends! It is my great pleasure to have the opportunity to talk with you. First, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere greetings and best wishes to you all.

Forum: Thank you, General-Secretary, for your greeting to our netizens. They have posted many comments; some express their gratitude to you and some raise questions. I will read a few questions for you. Our netizens are looking forward to your answers. This first question is from a netizen called "picturesque landscape of our country": Do you usually browse the Internet?

Hu Jintao: Although I am too busy to browse the Internet everyday, I try to spend some time on the web. I would particularly like to say that the Strong China Forum of People's Daily Online is one of the web sites I often choose to visit.

Forum: Here is a question from a netizen called "happy third": Mr. General-Secretary, what do you read on the web?

Hu Jintao: First, I read domestic and international news on the web. Through the web I also want to know what netizens are thinking about and what their opinions are. Thirdly, I hope to get some suggestions and advice proposed by our netizens to the government and the Party.

Forum: Thanks, Mr. General-Secretary. As you can see, our netizens have many questions. Here is another question from a netizen called "little flaming dragon": Mr. General-Secretary, do you review many suggestions and proposals from netizens on the web?

Hu Jintao: We pay great attention to suggestions and advice from our netizens. We stress the idea of "putting people first" and "governing for the people." With this in mind, we need to listen to people's voices extensively and pool the people's wisdom when we take actions and make decisions. The web is an important channel for us to understand the concerns of the public and assemble the wisdom of the public.

Forum: Thanks you, Mr. General-Secretary. Dear friends, General-Secretary Hu Jintao's communication must conclude now as he has other things to do.

Hu Jintao: It is a pity that I cannot communicate more with the netizens today due to the time constraint. However, I will read and think carefully the comments and questions posted for me by our netizens. Finally, I would like to take the chance to express my best wishes to the netizens: wishing you a healthy, prosperous and happy life. Thank you.

Forum: On behalf of our netizens, thank you very much. And we would also like to thank our netizens for their active participation.
