A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official has ordered Party members in charge of political and legal affairs to work for the consolidation of the CPC leadership, maintaining social stability and safeguarding social justice.

"All CPC officials overseeing political and legal issues should have a clear mind of the situation and tasks we are going to face, and better shoulder the responsibility of strengthening the Party leadership, maintaining stability and promoting social harmony," Zhou Yongkang said.

Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, asked Party officials to address various demands of the public for issues such as public security and social justice, and to "let the masses truly feel the sound and better socialist judiciary system".

He stressed to enhance the quality and proficiency level of China's law enforcement officers to guarantee "a strict, just and standardized execution of the law".
